The models - it all began in the 50's

My interest in model making started in the early 50's. Building from kits in those days but with very little choice (or money) available. It became a lifelong hobby and very rewarding - the sight of your creation flying gave great satisfaction.

After a spell from model making, due to finding the two legged models more interesting, I rekindled my love of flying models in the 70's and helped launch The Chedworth MAC using the disused Chedworth airfield as the base. I had recently moved into nearby Chedworth village and with The Seven Tuns Pub within easy walking distance it was heaven. The radio gear in those days was a little prone to interference and I spent some time in Chedworth woods looking for crashed models!

Some of the models and gear

I mainly built scale models - most using Merco61 diesel engines and Sprengbrook radio gear. The Mossi had retracts and the overall weight a bit excessive - it soon fell out of the sky due to pilot error and never flew again.
